Steamed Dim Sum Preparation (Level 1)


Upon completion of the course, learners will gain the knowledge and abilities to prepare moist-heat dim sum dishes and understand their cultural significance. Learners will be familiar with the ingredients and cooking techniques for creating popular moist-heat dim sum dishes such as steamed buns and kueh, chee cheong fun, siew mai and prawn dumplings.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • 1. Prepare workstations, kitchen tools and equipment to be ready before start of cooking
  • 2. Prepare food ingredients needed for cooking
  • 3. Follow the recipes and demonstrate cooking techniques for moist-heat dim sum
  • 4. Store ingredients and finished products safely and to reinstate workstations

  • a) 18 years old and above
  • b) Primary education level
  • c) Workplace Literacy & Numeracy level: At least level 2 (listening/speaking and reading/writing)

  • The course fee is S$500 (excl 8% GST) per participant.
  • To help companies and individuals offset the cost of training, SSG will provide funding for the course fee (eligible for Singaporeans, PRs and LTVP+ holders only):
  • Singaporean Aged 21-40 years / PRs / Non-SME - Up to 50% course fees
  • Singaporean Aged above 40 years / MCES / SME - Up to 70% course fees

  • Participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment by SSG upon passing assessment administered by Ascendo Academy.

  • Full Refund will be made if the course is cancelled due to lack of participants or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Any cancellations made after closing date (14 days to course date) – No Refund
  • Any cancellations made before closing date (14 days to course date) – Full Refund
  • Ascendo Academy reserves the right to cancel, reschedule the course, amend course content if necessary.
