Baking bread for the first time is one of life's greatest pleasures. Mixing, kneading, resting and proofing. A multi-step process where patience is rewarded with pleasant aromas and delicious bread. In this WSQ certified Fundamental Bread Preparation course, you will learn five bread recipes from the East to the West! Our expert chefs will share knowledge on bread making tools, equipment, baking ingredients and weighing formulations. You will gain practical skills in handling knives, shaping doughs, piping toppings and bread preparation sequence. Bake bread and find yourself rising to new culinary heights.

  • At the end of the course learners are expected to be able to:
  • 1. Explain the types and uses of baking tools and equipment, and assemble them for bread preparation
  • 2. Explain the types, characteristics, functions and quality indicators of baking ingredients, and assemble the correct ingredients in accordance to the recipe
  • 3. Explain the application of ratios and proportions when weighing ingredients, understand the importance and use of baker’s mathematics, and weigh ingredients for bread preparation in accordance to the recipe
  • 4. Demonstrate the methods and techniques of handling knives for bread products
  • 5. Demonstrate the methods to prepare and shape pre-mixes, frozen and bake-off products and doughs into a variety of shapes with different fillings in accordance to manufacturer’s instructions
  • 6. Demonstrate bread preparation sequence in accordance with the industry standards
  • Age: 21 years old and above
  • Education Level: Primary education
  • Workplace Literacy & Numeracy Level: At least Level 2 (listening/speaking and reading/writing)
  • The course fee is S$648.00 (incl 8% GST) per participant.
  • To help companies and individuals offset the cost of training, SSG will provide funding for the course fee (eligible Singaporeans, PRs or LTVP+ holders only). INDIVIDUALS - Up to 70% course fee
  • SME - Up to 70% course fee
  • NON-SME- Up to 50% course fee
  • Assessment will be conduct via Written Assessment and Practical Performance Assessment.
  • Trainer : Trainee Ratio - 1 : 20
  • Lectures, Group Discussions, Hands-on Practical, Trainer-led Demonstration
  • Full Refund will be made if the course is cancelled due to lack of participants or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Any cancellations made after closing date (14 days to course date) – No Refund
  • Any cancellations made before closing date (14 days to course date) – Full Refund
