Sustainable Cultivation of Mushrooms

The course aims to develop learners to become farmers in mushroom cultivation. The training covers all the necessary steps involved in growing mushrooms, from preparation to harvesting, including inoculum and media selection, grain spawn generation, monitoring and managing growth, and post-harvest management.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course learners will be able to:
1. Identify the varieties of edible mushrooms that can be cultivated
2. Understand the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the WSH guidelines to follow for mushroom cultivation activities.
3. Prepare culture and tissue culturing
4. Prepare the grain and perform inoculation
5. Prepare ingredients for substrate
6. Sterilise the substrate and inoculate with the mother spawn
7. Monitor the system to achieve optimal growing conditions
8. Perform cleanliness around the fruiting chamber
9. Prepare for harvest
10. Prepare for the next crop cultivation

ADMISSION CRITERIA

• 18 years old and above
• Primary education level
• Workplace Literacy & Numeracy level: At least level 2 (listening/speaking and reading/writing)

COURSE FEES AND FUNDING

The course fee is S$620 (excl 8% GST) per participant.
To help companies and individuals offset the cost of training, SSG will provide funding for the course fee (eligible for Singaporeans, PRs and LTVP+ holders only):
Singaporean Aged 21-40 years / PRs / Non-SME - Up to 50% course fees
Singaporean Aged above 40 years / MCES / SME - Up to 70% course fees

ASSESSMENT

Participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment by SSG upon passing assessment administered by Ascendo Academy.

CANCELLATION & REFUND

Full Refund will be made if the course is cancelled due to lack of participants or unforeseen circumstances.
Any cancellations made after closing date (14 days to course date) – No Refund
Any cancellations made before closing date (14 days to course date) – Full Refund
Ascendo Academy reserves the right to cancel, reschedule the course, amend course content if necessary.
